Mentorship & Group Workshops for Musicians

These workshops are designed for advanced musicians, bands, producers, and composers who want to deepen their rhythmic understanding and bring new colors into their music.

Rather than traditional lessons, these sessions function as a mentorship and creative collaboration. The focus is on developing musical ideas, refining arrangements, and adding rhythmic depth inspired by African and Afro-influenced traditions. This can include working on beat-making, production concepts, live arrangements, composition, or the interaction between rhythm and melody.

With more than 45 years of musical experience across a wide range of genres—from pop and jazz to traditional African music—Biboul brings a broad musical perspective to the process. He works with artists to explore how rhythm can transform and strengthen a piece of music while remaining true to the artist’s own style.

Sessions may involve working with live instruments, rhythmic structures, or production-based approaches depending on the project. Drawing from his experience as a multi-instrumentalist, he integrates elements from bass, guitar, drums, percussion, and traditional African instruments such as the kalimba and the tamtam (wooden slit drum).

The goal of these workshops is to support musicians in expanding their musical language, discovering new rhythmic possibilities, and developing arrangements that feel alive, grounded, and expressive.

Masterclass for schools

Biboul is a professional musician and bandleader who combines performance, composition, and collective artistic practice in both concert and educational contexts. Alongside his artistic work, he has developed a masterclass format that connects live performance with structured pedagogical exchange.

The concept brings together a live concert with his band and interactive group workshops. This format allows students to engage directly with ensemble practice, rhythm, interpretation, artistic development, and collaborative processes. The concert serves not only as a performance but also as a practical case study, linking stage experience with reflection and discussion.

A central focus of his educational work is the study and transmission of African rhythms. Students gain insight into rhythmic structures, phrasing, groove concepts, and ensemble interaction rooted in African musical traditions, offering participants the opportunity to engage with this knowledge directly from its source through lived artistic experience.

Darouiche has taught at various schools and institutions and brings many years of experience as both a performer and educator. His teaching is grounded in practical knowledge developed through extensive professional activity.

His workshops place particular emphasis on rhythm, collective listening, and ensemble dynamics. The aim is to provide students with concrete tools and insight into contemporary musical practice while encouraging artistic responsibility and independent development.
